Schools celebrate Reading Month together

Dearborn Heights — Fifth- and sixth-grade students at a handful of Wayne County schools came together March 3 to kick off Reading Month, an annual celebration encouraging students to develop good reading habits.

Students from Sacred Heart and Divine Child in Dearborn; St. Sebastian, St. Linus and St. Anselm in Dearborn Heights; St. Mary in Wayne; and St. Stephen in New Boston came together at St. Anselm School to read “Bud, Not Buddy” by Paul Curtis and “All of the Above” by Shelley Pearsall.

National Honor Society students from Dearborn Divine Child High School served as team leaders, mentoring their younger peers by leading opening ceremonies, guiding prayer and directing team activities.

It was the second year the schools held the annual celebration of books.
