Bishops’ ordination to be live-streamed

DETROIT — With the episcopal ordination of Bishops-designate Robert J. Fisher and Gerard W. Battersby sure to draw interest from the Catholic public in southeast Michigan, the Archdiocese of Detroit is planning to live-stream the blessed event.

Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron will be the principal consecrator during the 2 p.m. Mass on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament; because the cathedral seats just 900 people, seating is expected to be very limited, and those who wish to view the ordination are encouraged to log on to www.aod.org to view the feed.

Immediately following the ordination, members of the public will be invited to a reception at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, where the new bishops will greet well-wishers and impart their first blessings.

Michigan Catholic subscribers will also receive a special, bonus edition Feb. 3 with in-depth interviews and stories about Bishops-elect Fisher and Battersby, as well as highlights from the ordination Mass. To order, call (313) 224-8002.
